A WOMAN who went for a simple eyebrow tint was horrified when an allergic reaction saw her brows become inflamed and then fall off.

Leanne Martin, 31, from Greater Manchester, has been left with stubble where her eyebrows once were after a severe reaction to the dye used.

She had gone to a local beauty salon to get her nails done, but decided to get her brows waxed while she was there.

Leanne then asked for a tint to give her facial features a high definition look.

But she claims the beautician who carried out the treatment simply asked whether she’d had the procedure done before and didn’t offer her an allergy test at the time.

Not long after, Leanne’s forehead blew up as she suffered a painful reaction.

Leanne said: “I was there for about ten minutes. She waxed my eyebrows then put the tint on. Everything was fine, she wiped them off, but the day after they were a bit raised and red.

“I thought it was because of the wax but they got redder. I’d gone to see my boyfriend and he’d said ‘What’s wrong with your face?’ Then they blew up. I was panicking. I was in absolute shock.

“They were red, like they were on fire. It was like a burn. I couldn’t even touch them.

“I’ve since been told that you should never wax and tint at the same time.”

Leanne went to her local hospital walk-in where they gave her hydrocortisone cream following the appointment at the beauty salon.

A GP later told her to continue to use the cream when the reaction didn’t go down.

But furious Leanne said: “She [salon worker] didn’t offer me an allergy test. When I went back to the shop she gave me a £40 gift voucher. I wasn’t happy. I looked at it like ‘what?’

“I’m taking her to court. If she can do this to me, she can do it to someone else.”

Mum-of-one Leanne - who had the treatment on September 27 - says she has been unable to work since because she is a caterer and health and safety rules mean she can’t prepare food with open wounds.

She added: “They’re also agony. I work in a kitchen so I can’t go to work for hygiene reasons.

“It must have been the tint. I don’t think you’re supposed to wax and then tint, because waxing opens the pores.”

Her son Kiearnon, eight, also refused to walk to school with her because he said she would scare other parents.

She said: “I’m very angry with the shop. I was expecting a bit more from her. An apology or compassion or something.

“It’s me walking round looking like an idiot now when all I wanted was for my eyebrows to look a little bit fuller.”
